A day in the dumps

Landfill puppets

Just kidding...I was at the landfill today for a workshop on recycling, reusing, and reducing though. It was quite interesting. First of all, my confirmation print-out stated that the workshop was from 8-2. I got there to find out that it actually didn't begin until 8:30 and didn't end until 2:30. Also, we were suppose to bring our own supplies, and bring our lunch. For some reason the local co-op was suppose to inform us all of these changes, but failed to do so. In fact, many teachers confirmations said 8-12, so they were in for a big surprise. Luckily the presenters had enough supplies for us and they did let us go grab a quick bite to eat. I had a granola bar and candy bar in my purse so I opted to stay, and was starving by the time I got home. We did get to leave at 1:45 atleast. Some of the teachers took a tour of the landfill. I, along with over half of the rest of the class, decided to stay in the air conditioned building and color our "projects." We had to make some puppets out of "trash" and odds-n-ends to take back to our classrooms along with poems, songs, etc. When I got home I showed Kylan my "art" for the day, and he decided to finish his leaf man that we were going to make a few days ago, like in a book he read. He also wanted to make some "creations" himself. I gave him my low temp glue gun and plenty of supplies and let him have at it. Tonight I had a club meeting, so it has been a busy day. I don't think tomorrow will be any less busy, however atleast I am not at a workshop all day again until Wed. YAY!

fun stuff. what a great theme for a workshop! I am made at myself because I haven't been crafting lately... I mean, that is, since Saturday... think we need to have "craft in" and work on our projects and drink lots of Dr. Pepper.

I knew you had a workshop at the landfill today, yet I still dIdn't get the title and was worried! I was concerned you had a depressing day! I've gotta give it to ya for a pretty creative title! Glad you did have a GOOD day!

Sounds like the workshop wasn't so bad! Laura was cleaning my teeth today and we discussed how you manage to be Superwoman! I mean, an all day workshop and you still come home and do projects with Kylan AND have time to blog! It's pretty cool to have a superhero for a friend!!!
